ಸಮಾಜ ಕಾರ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಸ್ನಾತಕೋತ್ತರ ಮತ್ತು ಪಿ.ಎಚ್.ಡಿ. ಪದವಿಯನ್ನು ಪಡೆದಿರುವ ಮೂಲತಃ ಮಂಗಳೂರು ಕುಲಶೇಖರ ನಿವಾಸಿಯಾಗಿರುವ ಡಾ| ಲವೀನಾ ಎಂ. ನೋರೋನ್ಹಾ ಆವೆ ಮರಿಯಾ ಪ್ಯಾಲೇಟಿವ್ ಕೆರ್ ಇದರ ನಿರ್ದೇಶಕಿಯಾಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ. 15 ಹಾಸಿಗೆಗಳ ಈ ಕೇಂದ್ರದಲ್ಲಿ, ನುರಿತ ವೈದ್ಯರು, ದಾದಿಯರು ಮತ್ತು ಸೇವಾನಿರತರ ಸಹಾಯದಿಂದ ಡಾ| ಲವೀನಾ ಕ್ಯಾನ್ಸರ್, ಲಿವರ್, ಕಿಡ್ನಿ ಸಮಸ್ಯೆ, ಡಿಮೆನ್ಸಿಯಾ ಇವೇ ಮುಂತಾದ ಮಾರಣಾಂತಿಕ ಕಾಯಿಲೆಯಿಂದ ಬಳಲುತ್ತಿರುವವರ ಆರೈಕೆ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ.

ಈ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯು ಜಾತಿ ಮತ ಮತ್ತು ವರ್ಗ ಬೇಧಗಳಿಲ್ಲದೇ ಉಚಿತ ಸೇವೆಯನ್ನು ಸಲ್ಲಿಸುತ್ತಾ ಬಂದಿದೆ. ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿನ ನಿಮ್ಹಾನ್ಸ್ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಎಂ.ಫಿಲ್, ಅಮೆರಿಕೆಯ ಇಲಿಯನೋಸ್ ವಿಶ್ವವಿದ್ಯಾಲಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಪಿ.ಎಚ್.ಡಿ. ಪದವಿ ಪಡೆದು, ವಿದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಾಧ್ಯಾಪಕರಾಗಿ ಸೇವೆ ಸಲ್ಲಿಸಿದ ಬಳಿಕ ತಾಯ್ನಾಡಿಗೆ ಮರಳಿದ ಡಾ| ಲವೀನಾ ಪ್ರಸ್ತುತ ಇಂಡಿಯನ್ ಅಸೊಶಿಯೆಶನ್ ಒಫ್ ಪ್ಯಾಲೇಟಿವ್ ಕೇರ್ ಇದರ ಸದಸ್ಯರಾಗಿದ್ದು, ಅಮೇರಿಕದಲ್ಲಿ ಕ್ರೆಸ್ಟ್ ಇಂಟರ್‍ನ್ಯಾಶನಲ್ ಇದರ ಸ್ಥಾಪಕ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಶರಾಗಿಯೂ ಅವರು ಸೇವೆ ಸಲ್ಲಿಸ್ದಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ವಿದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಮಾನಸಿಕ ಆರೋಗ್ಯ, ಒತ್ತಡ ನಿರ್ವಹಣೆ, ಸಿಬ್ಬಂದಿ ಸಹಾಯ ಇವೇ ಮುಂತಾದ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಕ್ಲಿನಿಕಲ್ ಅನುಭವವಿರುವ ಡಾ| ಲವೀನಾ ಈ ವಿಷಯಗಳ ಮೆಲೆ ಹಲವಾರು ಸಂಶೋಧನಾತ್ಮಕ ಪ್ರಬಂದ ಹಾಗೂ ಪುಸ್ತಕಗಳನ್ನು ಬರೆದಿದ್ದಾರೆ.

Women Achiever of the year: Dr Lavina M Noronha

With MSW and Ph.D. degrees from the reputed NIMHANS, Bangalore, and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, USA, Dr. Lavina M Noronha is the Director of 15-bed hospice facility Ave Maria Palliative Care at Mangalore with utmost professionalism and dedication.  Dr.Noronha has vast experience teaching at foreign universities and several years of clinical practice in the fields of mental health, crisis respite, employee assistance, and hospice in the USA.

She also has several professional publications and presentations on a variety of topics to her credit and is the founder and president of CREST International Inc, USA, and a member of the Indian Association of Palliative Care. Dr. Lavina’s dream project, Ave Maria palliative care has patients suffering from cancer, liver diseases, renal failures, and dementia, who need holistic comfort and care. The home is free and anyone is welcome, regardless of religion, class, and cast.
